WHAT
ARE ADULT CARE FACILITIES?
Adult Care Facilities are privately owned/operated facilities that
provide 24-hour/seven day housing for severely mentally ill adults
who cannot live in the community yet do not need hospitalization.
The Clermont
Counseling Center and the Clermont County Mental Health and Recovery
Board contracts with these facilities to provide care for severely
mentally ill adults who are not presently capable of living in a
non-restrictive community based living situation.
WHAT SERVICES TO THESE FACILITIES OFFER?
Facility staff monitors medications. They also help care for the
consumer’s individual daily living skills needs - meals, laundry,
housekeeping, transportation, social activities and personal care.
Supportive case management services are provided by Clermont Counseling
Center.
Adult Care
Facilities are not allowed to provide skilled nursing services,
such as give injections or maintain catheters and perform colostomy
care. Some of these facilities also contract with the Mental Health
Division to provide extra Supplemental Services to the clients needing
higher levels of care.
HOW
LONG DO MENTAL HEALTH CONSUMERS STAY?
Counseling Center Case Managers work with consumers to develop treatment
goals when entering the Residential facility. This individualized
plan includes assessing consumers’ needs and desires, exploring
housing opportunities and helping consumers identify steps that
need to be taken to achieve the goals.
WHERE
ARE THE RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES LOCATED?
Clermont Counseling Center and the Clermont Mental Health and Recovery
Board currently contract with the following facilities:
WHO PAYS FOR ADULT RESIDENTIAL CARE?
Living in Adult Care Homes is very expensive. In order to make sure
that as many people as possible can be served, we require that consumers
contribute their total monthly income (not to exceed the actual
monthly cost) for care and services when living in the homes.
With Clermont
Mental Health and Recovery Board funds, Clermont Counseling Center
reimburses the Homes the difference in expenses. Should you be approved
for benefits and/or receive back payments, you are required to reimburse
Clermont Counseling Center for the full amount of all incurred residential
costs. Many consumers are eligible for Residential
State Supplement (http://www.state.oh.us/age/rss.html ) to defer
the expense (currently RSS is not available).
Should consumers
not have benefits when entering Adult Care, Case Managers will assist
in accessing available/eligible resources.
